Reading past posts on here, a lot of advice is to connect to the mount using POTH. Having checked my ASCOM installation today, I had only "ACOM Device Hub" installed, reading more it seems that POTH has been replaced by Device Hub but what is the expert opinion on which one should be used?Hi Euan,
My expert opinion is that POTH is better than Device Hub at this point. I have used POTH for over 5 years at the MSRO and have never had any problem with it. IT IS OLD though, so you have to select it manually when you instlall the ASCOM Platform 6.5 as it has been delegated as a legacy app with Device Hub being the default on installation. You do have to understand how the manual controls work on POTH to get the most use out of it, but most other ASCOM client software provides their own manual controls.
