Tom,

Of course, I would not announce the release unless it was available as stated in my announcement. There is no confusion, and we are not rushing anything. I am being up front and pro-active to make sure everyone knows what is going on with our releases. All updates and changes are tested and validated over a few week period prior to release. We have actually been working on these changes for several months. We rolled out the update to the Android ExploreStars first that included updates to support the changes we were making to our firmware. I then rolled out the firmware update and then after a bug report by Mike Leemhuis rolled out the corrected version. Then last night Chris released the updated version of the Configuration Manager that adds requested features.  There is nothing confusing about it unless you think there is too much improvement going on over too short a period.

So does the ES website have the corrected version? Seems to be to much confusion and rushing on the groups.io. the method of software/updates/firmware releases goes against all marketing techniques and check and balances that protects company and consumers from the incorrect discrepancies that occur during software development, testing software, then prerelease, then active distribution. Just saying.

Thanks Tom

To make it clear to everyone. The actual version date is still 7/25/2019. This did not change because I inadvertently introduced a bug. The release date for this corrected version is 8/15/2019 which is the .eeprom file date and the date that Mike was referring to above.

Thanks Mike for finding this issue and testing it out to make sure it works.

Looks intriguing and I’d be game if it works. Would seem to offer much easier control at the eyepiece.
I assume it would be the wireless version, which looks to be $140 now on Amazon.

Hi Wes,
sorry i forgot to tell, the ISO was 1600.
I used Explorestars for go-to and i did not recenter.
Well the work with the picture software i also have to learn better.
I use free software for that.
Using an equatorial mount and go-to is brand new for me.
Before i used an table tripot, if you know the old Bausch & Lomb 4000 from the 80´s. It is similar to the Meade 1000.
Not easy to find an object with that.
Allways was the table in the way, special by objects in the zenit.
Greetings Wolfgang.

Nice!  If you could just move your black level up a bit a lot of the background noise would disappear.

What iso did you shoot?

How was your go-to

How often did you recenter?

Jerry,

FWIW, I agree that the ES downloads page is the right place for your latest-believed-good sw distributions, but I think you should have a generation or two behind, available in case there's a need for fallback, or to get around some platform compatibility hump that comes up later.

That's rather sad that groups.io won't date the files properly.  But you're right, removing the old files would probably be a good thing or at least tuck them away in a archives folder somewhere.  Having the latest official files on the ES website is a great idea.

Thanks,
