It's possible. Balancing will be tough tho. I'd much prefer Piggybacking the second setup on top of the first one.

Something like this would work https://www.teleskop-express.de/shop/product_info.php/language/en/info/p229_TS-Optics-Piggyback-Camera-Holder-for-D-20-mm-Counterweight-Shafts.html
Note: I don't remember the diameter of the counterweight shaft so you'd have to check whether it fits the iExos 100 or not.

I've loaded my iExos up to 8kg and had 1.2" RMS but I wouldn't really recommend going further, the motors won't appreciate it haha

If you are a DIY person you could try to assemble a budget guidescope as I did. You just need a lens/objective and a sensor.
I used a doublet 37mm/130mm and the AR0130 sensor that I bought off amazon. This is the one that I used: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01N44MXBB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
You can buy a doublet lens from surplusshed.com, they have plenty of options. Or just use any doublet from old binoculars.

Hi Marco,

maybe I’am wrong, but as far as I know is the max payload 7kg. And I hope with the camera at the counterweight bar, I don’t need an additional counterweight.

So, no suggestions for a camera adapter?

Thanks and best regards,
Mirko

Hi Mirko,

when I´m counting correct, the maximum payload for the IEXOS-100 mount (which I use myself) ist 4,8kg for astrophotography (6,8kg at all - 2kg counterweights).
So with 6kg + 2kg counterweight you´re a bit overloaded... in theory.
Maybe you give it a try and report if it works?
I assume there are other people here which have already done this and can give you some hints.

Best,
Marco

Thank you very much Max. Next on my list is to get a guide scope and camera, as money permits haha

Very nice Andromeda for just 15x30 frames. Looks like you got a good polar alignment.
I hope you enjoy AP and will soon get your feet wet with guiding so you can take longer exposures.

@Huangdi Thank you very much for your feedback and advice is always welcome! I am still learning this astro world. I will definitely start using flats, that was on my list of things to do. As far as photoshop goes, I just need to sit down and learn how to use it. Lightroom is just such a quick and easy tool to use for me compared to learning photoshop. But the image you re-produced makes me want to learn it!

Nice shot Tommy! I hope you don't mind me giving you advice (I'm by no means an expert but I wish I had known these things sooner) but here are some things to drastically improve your image!
1. If you use calibration frames, use flats! Esp in a camera as sophisticated as the D5600, flats are way more important than darks/bias
2. adjust your white balance to reveal many more details in the galaxy
3. Don't subtract too much of the background (I myself still struggle with this haha), the background should never be black
4. You should seriously consider moving away from Lightroom. It's a poor choice for Astrophotography, Photoshop is a LOT more powerful
5. If you use Photoshop, you can use something I do frequently, you can reduce the stars in size or even better: Use masks to retain their color and not blow them up

I took the liberty of downloading your jpeg and giving it a 3minute edit, just to show how much detail is hidden in your image!

So, I decided to see what the Mount could do with just my 300mm Nikon lens, no scope and finally got decent results. I did a rough polar alignment and then a 2 star alignment. Then pointed towards Andromeda. It slewed almost directly to the target, with minor adjustments. Tracking was pretty good as well. Reducing my focal length and telescope weight really helped with the performance. Here's my final image of Andromeda.

Lens: Nikkor 70/300
15x30sec lights

IEXOS-100 / camera at the counter wight bar?

Mirko Gude

Hi all,

could someone recommend an adapter to put a DSLR camera at the counter wight bar?
Or is this not a good idea? I‘am a newbie and I would like to use my IEXOS-100 mount with a telescope and the DSLR at the same time. Has someone experience with a 3kg telescope and 3kg camera?

thanks and best regards,
Mirko

Martin,
Thanks for the details.  The colors you chose give it a real dimensionality.  I was going back and looking for more blues in my subs and just not finding them.  Very creative.  I'll have to look at that method.

Thank you Jim, i used a 70/420 ED APO with the ES Flattener and an cheap UHC Filter with a Modded Eos 6D.

For this Picture i took about 50 Lights with 180 sec.

The blues are coming from my post processing. I coppied the Red Channel to the greens and made some selective Colorcorrections.

Breathtaking Martin!  You are doing great things with your mount.  Narrowband and Mono camera?   I haven't see the blues in Rosette before.

Hi Jerry,

Is it possible to get the parts to adapt the ST1 tripod separately? I bought the adapter before they came with the kit:(
