Jennifer no mystery here. If I had all your camera and scope specs I could confirm your results.

Beautiful shot Jenni!

I tried this target a week or so ago, but the only thing I had with a large enough fov was my 50mm APO guide scope.
ehhh, I didn't bother to post it :)
I didn't have a flattener in the train and the coma was staggering. Maybe I'll try to work up a different approach and give it another shot.

Re: Android for ExploreStars and Windows for ASCOM?

Wes,
Thanks so much for the reply!
I've been reading quite a bit today on forum questions/answers about the question I had (I didn't use the right search words yesterday!). It appears there are multiple ways of doing things with WiFi vs.Serial with quite a few different results from users. I will start with the Android Tab A and see where it takes me.
- Thanks again!

Jeff,
Nice set up. Love the ingenuity with the tool boxes. I was just thinking about getting some cases to transport equipment safely and your tool boxes are a great idea!
Hope you have a great camping trip and get some nice shots at the dark site.

Very true about about mounting a DSLR to a mount, but it Is a trickier task due to the balancing issues.

Good day Dave,

Thank you for the compliment.  I have seen your work for a while.  I plan on getting more into DSOs when my planet season is over.

The weather has been hindering me from practice J.   I am reminded of what Mike Tyson said years ago, everyone has a plan until

they get punched in the face.  Mother Nature has been punching me in the face for the past 3-weeks J

Well, I am still having fun processing data.  One thing I have learned, is every year the planets change characteristics.

If these are practice runs . then I really want to see what you can do when you've finished practicing! , with your equivalent 5.4 meters of telescope!
Nice Pictures,

Good day Harry,

Stability:

1.       No issues so far.

2.       No slippage or weird sounds from the mount when slewing or tracking

objects.

3.       Tripod legs are fully extended

4.       No vibration pads

5.       Unleveled angled ground

6.       Imaging over cement; (oh yeah, I am a rule breaker)

Things you should know:

1.       Your system has to be balanced.  My idea of balancing in the RA differs from

most:

a)      I can move the scope anywhere along the RA axis of rotation and the scope will not move

2.       Dec balancing is a little different:

a)      I can move the scope +/- along the DEC axis of rotation at 180-degrees and it will not move

to make this like the RA, I will have to experiment with stick on weights.

3.       Make sure you have all counterweights installed and the RA with Dec axis locked down before

placing your scope on top.

4.       You will need a bushing in order for the 11.25-pound counterweight to be balanced on the counterweight

shaft.  I made my bushing out of PVC tubing.

Why Explore Scientific 11.25-pound counterweight:

1.       Mr. Kent suggested it.  It is countersunk, so it extends the length of the counterweight shaft

by 58.48mm (using my measurements).  It is a tight fit on the countershaft screw knob, but I am

not going to turn down the knurled knob.

Tracking:

1.       Not very good since I can’t see any Northern stars due to tree foliage.  Can’t do a real polar alignment;

even Sharpcap needs stars.   Currently I am doing blind polar alignment.  I use apps to point me north

and “celestial pole” to get a false sense I am aimed at the NCP.  Currently, I can run 5400mm with a

digital zoom of 5 and the image will cross my FOV in 1.5-minutes.

This is a picture of my current setup which I will use for all  planets for 2020.  I have to get Mars working.

I believe Mars comes around  every 2-years.  Reminds me of Tom Petty’s song, “Don’t come around here no more”.

JR, great pictures! May I ask you about the stability and any other comments you have regarding your mount. I also have the iExos 100 with the stock tripod. I see you have the ST3 tripod with the Skymax 180mm Maksutov . I am considering a similar upgrade, and am wondering how yours is working out.
Thanks, Harry

Finally was able to get some shots of the NEOWISE Comet last night.
I like the larger crop, you can see some trees at the bottom (not sure if those are visible in the JPG). They give some perspective on where the sunset is and how low on the horizon the shot was.

Scope: Skywatcher 50mm EVOGuide (yep, shot these through my 50mm guide scope... its an APO!).
Mount: EXOS II w/PMC 8
Guider: Orion 50mm guide scope
Camera: ASI294MCPro
Software: SharpCap Live Stack and Polarr post processing
Integration: these were all 60s subs. One is 240s total and the other is 360s total.

Skywatcher 200PDS is 1000mm with zero reduction coma corrector so still 1000mm
You should be able to see most of my ph2 settings on the pictures if it helps you.

Oh and I left the ZWO duo band filter in by mistake, but i can try to correct the colours I guess.

Having ago at Neo,, Currently PH2 is locked on to the comet at 0.5 sec exp and is sending rapid commands to the PMC mount.
This is only 3  x 60s exp so far.

I haven't changed it , is sidereal. ph2 is steering it every .5 of a second that way comet appears like a star.
I have since gone to 300sec exposure as it is guiding relay well.
I am 20miles south of London,
Comet is current only 17 degrees above horizon
so punching though a lot of crap at the moment and its going down pretty quick..
