I didn't realise until afterwards that you are supposed to capture darks in advance and apply it via pre-processing so I created darks afterwards and applied via PIPP. Probably not the best way, I'll try to remember next time.
Anyway, this is the result after assembling by hand in GIMP and then doing some level stretching, colour enhancing and start brightening in GIMP. Equalizing the background wasn't too easy in GIMP but some messing with colour channel levels seems to have helped.
Anyway, here's my result. I may have another shot at it or maybe just fill in some more stars in the current one but I'm definitely going to seek out the other two Kemble targets.

The pmc stays in WiFi until changed.  My guess is that when you were fooling with the cm originally you changed the thing to serial.

Maybe one day this will be easier to know and change.

Glad you got it.  It had to be one of the three ways. I forgot to mention serial!

Sunil:

Glad you figured out part of the problem was the grease.

Do you have the original worm and blocks or have you upgraded to the one piece worm block?  I assume you have the original worm and blocks.  If that is the case then adjusting these can be tricky because you have to loosen both blocks and keep even pressure while you pinch, pivot, and tighten the bolts up again.  This important because you want to make sure the blocks are square with one another and the pressure on the worm making contact with the bearings is enough so you will not have any side to side play.

I suggest checking for side to side play before committing to the adjustment.  You will need the remove the top plate to expose the worm and blocks for each axis. Then with the clutches locked grab the counterweight bar and move it from side to side while watching the worm and the blocks.  If you see any side to side play then you will need to pinch both worm blocks with your fingers, slightly loosen the block that is farthest from the motor, pinch the blocks a little harder, and tighten the worm block.  Be careful not to shift the worm block up/down or twist.  Keep the block steady. Check again for side to side play.  If the side to side play is eliminated then that may be all you need to do.  If not repeat the process until the side to side play is eliminated.

If there is no side to side play then the worm is likely out of mesh with the wheel.  That involves slightly loosening both blocks while pinching them together, slightly pivoting the blocks upwards towards the side farthest from the motor, and tightening the worm blocks while holding and pinching the blocks.  You will wish you have three hands.  If you have someone who can help loosen and tighten the worm blocks for you that will save you from some frustration.  You will need to manually rotate the axis by hand to check for binding.  If any area of the manual rotation become difficult to do by hand then you will have to adjust your pivot downwards.  If it seems too easy to rotate by hand or if the worm seems too far from the wheel then you will have to adjust your pivot upwards.  You will likely have to do many iterations to get it right.

I hope this helps and good luck.

Wes,

he only way I can get Com3 set is to restart CM with the USB cable plugged in.  I can unplug after CM restart, but plugging the cable in after restarting CM w/o cable doesn’t make COM3 appear.

UDP and TCP failed. Finally got ESGV response on serial after a reboot of the bount with USB plugged into PC. Issued ESX. Then diconnected PC wifi, reconnected Fire, and mount is responding.

Disconnected Fire from mount. Reconnected PC to wifi, and now explorestars on PC can also control the mount.

Victory!

Sober reflections after hallway dance concluded. Is the upshot that everyone should carry a USB mini cable and a PC with them in the field, even if they use a tablet?  What caused this problem?  The last time I used my mount was during the summer, and there was no problem with wifi control.  It’s only recent that I even own a PC. How would a Mac user fix the settings without a PC, if it is the wifi udp setting which is bad?

I presume you are using the Fire Tablet and Explorestars.  Is the mount position correctly displayed on the main screen?  It sounds like the tablet is not connected to the mount.

The Configuration manager settings are not really important to the mount, except for one thing.  You must leave the mount in UDP mode for EXplorestars.  If you changed it to TCP EXplorestars will not work.  Try connecting via the CM and ensure the mount is in UDP.

Re: Newb issues after firmware, ExploreStars Data Base update #iEXOS-100 #Android

Joe, are your clutches tight? The fact that you hear motors whirring is a clue. If you left the clutches loose, the RA and DEC shafts could spin without moving the mount. But if the clutches are tight, you hear motor rotation, and you still see no mount motion, there’s got to be a disconnect somewhere in the drive train. Check belts. With the EXOS2 I can see motor rotation through the little gap in the motor housing; Maybe the IExos-100 allows that, too. If so, you could check that the motors are really turning and not just whining a little.

It's been a while since I last used my iExos-100.  I just flashed the firmware using the latest 1A01C_10B_5.eeprom
It went just as described in the youtube video, including the success msg.

Then I pulled my microSD card from my FireOS tablet, and using my WIndows10 PC, I updated the ExploreStars database.  Everything appears nominal.

Reinserted, the microSD card in my tablet, hooked up to the PMC-8 network which shows a strong signal, and relaunched ExploreStars.  The GPS coordinates are entered and I see them in System Settings. App reports a Scope IP of 192.168.47.1.

The DB appears healthy because the app shows pictures of Messier objects.

I've changed the mount type to something wrong, then back to iExos-100, exited, and restarted.

My mount is powered. I see lights, and hear whirring. It just doesn't move when I try to do an alignment sequence, GoTo, or a manual move with arrows.  What am I missing?

While doing the firmware update, I poked around settings in the Configuration Manager. Could I have screwed up a comm setting?

Thanks,
Joe

Update :

Managed to fix most of the issues by taking apart and re-greasing the RA and DEC axis : the squealing noise was due to bad/solidified grease. But there seems to be RA & DEC play. Is there a manual or something available so that I can try to adjust the worms? I found the regular G11 manual but the design seems to be a bit different.

Newb issues after firmware, ExploreStars Data Base update #iEXOS-100 #Android

Joe Izen

Thanks,
Joe

Jason,

I do Not have the PMC8, just the mount and the Bresser drive system it came with.

I am no expert but I have been able to use the mount.  So PM me if you like.

Did you buy a EXOS2-GT-PMC8 or an EXOS2-GT?  This forum is for EXOS2-GT-PMC8 users.
