I have read the procedure on the chipset sheet and that i need an alligator jumper to connect the GPIO9 but I want to be sure to what other pin i need to connect it. I think I need to use a 3V3 pin..but i don't want to make mistakes as I don't know wich other pin is a good one for the procedure. I won't do this until i'm pretty sure on what i'm doing. If I need something else other than an alligator jumper i won't do that either since my knowledge in electronics is limited. I know you don't want to share the procedure and i can understand why. I don't want to make mistakes so if i said something wrong just tell me, but if what i need is just an alligator jumper and i just need to know what's the other pin that i need to use for the procedure i can make a try. So what I conclude from your excellent testing is that the WiFi module is still in the FACTORY DEFAULT configuration probably but has also failed in some way since the SSID is not showing up. Remind me where you purchased your PMC-Eight mount from again? We can probably send you a replacement WiFi daughter board if you send yours back to us if you are comfortable removing it from the system. The PMC-Eight will still work fine with the serial adapter cable with the WiFi module removed. The alternative is to send your PMC-Eight box back to us to repair. Please contact Kent at service@... to arrange an RMA or if you are in Europe we need to arrange with Explore Scientific Germany to get a repair done. Hi Jerry,
Sorry for the late reply. There is no SSID, just to be sure i checked in Linux, Windows and Android. I did some tests with the serial cable: PMC8ConfigurationManager Connected to it just the first time i connected the new cable to my Windows pc but I wasn't able to replicate this, I don't know why. Now it can't find the mount. I tried to clean my com ports thinking it could be this but it didn't work. INDI Works fine! So at least I can use the mount. Parallax and other terminal softwares like Termite or Tera Term connect to the pmc-eight unit. I was able to connect and receive answer from it with the 115200 8 1 and DSR/DTS flow control configuration (even though the factory reset should have changed this settings to different values?). It require some time to receive an answer from the unit, the work around i found is to power it up while i'm already connected with the terminal to the serial cable. I don't receive the *HELLO* line but I can still use some commands: ESGv! works and i receive the version correctly. %%% Debug mode works, I receive the correct answer and i receive a flow of values. ### Debug mode off works and it stop the flow of values of the debug mode. $$$ Command mode doesn't work at all. I don't receive any answer from the unit. I tried anyway to use some commands just to see if it was just the CMD answer that was missing but no, command mode does not work. So basically works everything apart from the Command Mode (No I will not try to use the ESX! command since it will switch to wireless mode while it doesn't work. I'm pretty sure i will not be able to use the mount anymore doing this). Any ideas? Filippo

Comments about the EXOS 2 PMC-Eight on CloudyNights
#EXOS2
I am not sure if this is a good idea, but I thought I would make this suggestion. I just ran across a post on CloudyNights about the EXOS 2 PMC-Eight mount from a vendor talking about the performance of the EXOS 2 mount compared to a SkyWatcher EQ6... Here is the link to the thread
https://www.cloudynights.com/topic/715185-exos2-gt-pmc-eight-vs-eq6-r/?p=10302376 If anyone cares to comment on his statements I would appreciate it. I am forbidden from responding and as a vendor he should not be making statements about other vendor's products either based on the terms of service for vendors. Anyway, I thought I would make this suggestion. I would appreciate instructions on how to setup CdC on EXOS2.Hi Henry, Please follow this procedure to get Cartes du Ciel working with the PMC-Eight. This assumes you are installing CdC on a Microsoft Windows PC Part 1 - Connecting the PMC-Eight to the POTH Dome-Scope Hub 1. Download and install the ASCOM-Standards Platform from https://ascom-standards.org/ 2. Download and install the PMC-Eight ASCOM Driver from http://02d3287.netsolhost.com/pmc-eight/ES_PMC8%20ASCOM%20Driver%20Setup_2019_01_07_AnyCPU.zip 3. Connect your PMC-Eight System to your computer (via wired or wireless) and power up the PMC-Eight. This will entail either connecting your Serial DB9 to USB adapter or Connecting to the PMC-Eight SSID on your wireless network settings 4. Start the POTH Scope-Dome Hub installed as part of the ASCOM Platform (ASCOM Platform 6 folder in your programs list) 5, Click SETUP on the POTH interface, the POTH Setup window will pop up 6. Click Choose Scope and the ASCOM Chooser will pop up 7. Select ES_PMC8.Telescope in the drop down list 8. Click on the Properties and the PMC-Eight ASCOM Driver setup will pop up 9. Select Explore Scientific EXOS II in the Mount drop down list 10. Select either Enable Serial Port, or Enable WiFi TCP to use the one you have your PMC-Eight communications channel set to. The default from the factory is WiFi. 11. IF you selected Serial Port THEN Click the Serial Port Setup Tab, and Select the correct Port on the Comm Port drop down list 12. Click on the Site Data Tab and Enter your local site's Location (name), Longitude, Latitude, and Elevation. You can ignore the other data for the time being. 13. Click the OK button on the PMC-Eight ASCOM Driver setup dialog box to finish the configuration. 14. Click the OK button on the ASCOM Chooser dialog box to finish the configuration. 15. Click the OK button on the POTH Setup dialog box to finish the configuration. 16. Click the Connect button on the POTH to verify you can connect to your PMC-Eight System. This may take more than one attempt to connect depending on the state of your connection. You should see coordinate data on the POTH when successful. Part 2 - Connecting Cartes du Ciel to the POTH 1. Download and install Cartes du Ciel. You can find it here: https://www.ap-i.net/skychart//en/start 2. Start Cartes du Ciel 3. Select the Telescope Menu item, and select Connect Telescope. The ASCOM Telescope Interface will pop up 4. In the ASCOM Local Tab in the Driver Selection section, click the Select button and the ASCOM Chooser will pop up 5. Select POTH Hub in the drop down list 6. Click OK on the ASCOM Chooser to finish 7. Click Connect on the CdC ASCOM Interface to connect CdC to the POTH, You should see a Green indication showing the connection is successful. That should get you connected. -- Jerry Hubbell Vice President of Engineering Explore Scientific, LLC. jrh at explorescientific.com www.explorescientificusa.com 1010 S. 48th Street Springdale, AR 72762 1-866-252-3811 Author: Scientific Astrophotography: How Amateurs Can Generate and Use Professional Imaging Data Remote Observatories for Amateur Astronomers: Using High-Powered Telescopes From Home Mark Slade Remote Observatory (MSRO) IAU MPC W54 Equipment Wilderness, VA Mounts: ES PMC-Eight G11 + Telescope Drive Master (TDM) Scopes: ES 165 FPL-53 ED APO CF, ES 102 FCD100 ED APO CF Cameras: QHY174M-GPS + FW, QHY163C Misc: 3-inch 0.7x Focal Reducer Field Flattener, Filters: Luminance, Red, V-band Photometric, Diffuser, 200 lpmm Spectral Grating Software: MaxIm DL 6, Cartes du Ciel, Astrometrica, AstroImageJ, AutoStakkert!
