Jerry,

FYI...  I did attempt a signup, but it failed midpoint, with the error below (Paypal, w/Canadian address).

"There are no shipping methods available for your cart or destination."

On re-try's, that message is also accompanied by this one:
"Your cart has been modified and the shipping rate you previously selected no longer applies. Please select a new rate."

We are going to provide a live webinar of our conference training that I am conducting for those that cannot come to Arkansas for the conference. I have attached a pdf of Saturday's agenda. Here is the link to register for the webinar, it is $19.99. We will use Zoom.us to broadcast the webinar and you should be able to record it for your future reference. You will be able to ask questions during the webinar using Zoom.us.  If you register for the conference, I will be sending out the webinar link to your individual email address tomorrow sometime.

Here is the link to register for the conference, select Live Webinar in the pulldown.

You can also test it by connecting to the telescope simulator from the POTH.
Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,
Chris

Thank you very much. I will give it a try tonight weather permittingof course.

AutoHotKey

W. Christopher Moses

Here are some quick and dirty instructions for setting up AutoHotKeys to switch to AscomPad whenever you press Control-Q.

Notes:

1  - Do not use the Hide option in Ascompad.  The script won't find Ascompad if it is completely hidden - I'm looking into that.

2 - The script will not start Ascompad.  You need to start it and connect it to the POTH normally.

3 - Please let me know about any errors or problems in either the instructions or the script.

About AutoHotKey

It is a very handy free utility that allows you to create fairly complex scripts that run whenever you press the script's "hot key."   For this script (all of about 3 lines), I just find the Ascompad window and give it the focus.

If you have ideas for other scripts, let me know.

INSTALLING

Step 1 - install AutoHotKey

1. Download and run the installer: https://www.autohotkey.com/download/ahk-install.exe

Step 2 - Create the script

1. Open notepad and paste in the following:

#NoEnv  ; Recommended for performance and compatibility with future AutoHotkey releases.

; #Warn  ; Enable warnings to assist with detecting common errors.

SendMode Input  ; Recommended for new scripts due to its superior speed and reliability.

SetWorkingDir %A_ScriptDir%  ; Ensures a consistent starting directory.

^q::

IfWinExist, ASCOMPad V1.2

WinActivate ; use the window found above

2. Save it to the desktop

Step 3 - Set to start automatically (optional)

Paste the following into the windows search bar at the bottom left of the screen:  %appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

This will open your startup folder.  Drag and drop the script from the desktop to this folder.

If you do not want the script to run automatically, skip the above and double click on the script on your desktop when you want to turn it on.

USAGE

Once AscomPad has been started you can switch to it by pressing control-q.

To change the key, change the q in the line

 ^q::

to whatever you want. The full AHK syntax is available at: https://www.autohotkey.com/docs/Tutorial.htm#s12

Re: Question from prospective buyer: No hand paddle

Hi,

I'll write up some instructions for AutoHotKey.  It is really easy.

As to the buttons, I'll experiment and let you know what I find.  I haven't tried Parking or using the two front buttons yet.

It works very well. I can testify that it is indeed waterproof because I was caught outside in an extreme downpour yesterday and the backpack that I believed to be waterproof was not waterproof.
I upgraded the M2 keyed SSD which was tricky because the tablet only has one slot for SSD.
I will post a link to the model I own. I purchased via the Dell Outlet, so I did not pay the retail price.

ASCOMPAD & POTH

Chris - Thank you very much. The only other part that was missing is that worked for me was to change the properties in ASCOMPAD to remove the I as Admin for all users.

ASCOMPAD requires its window to be active in order to function. I think you addressed this with a script in the following post. I am extremely interested in the program and related instructions.

The button I assigned to park the mount does not work. When I was assigning buttons I noted that it said park to user defined. How do I define the park position?

And last but not least my current configuration does not allow me to use the bottom two front buttons on the Xbox controller. Did you encounter this as well?

Jennifer

Re: Question from prospective buyer: No hand paddle

Jennifer Shelly

Chris - You rock. I am very interested.

Re: Question from prospective buyer: No hand paddle

As a workaround, you can use AutoHotKey to switch to ascompad with a single keystoke.  I find it easier than searching for it with the mouse...

Here is a very simple script that will switch to Ascompad when you type Control-q:

#NoEnv  ; Recommended for performance and compatibility with future AutoHotkey releases.
; #Warn  ; Enable warnings to assist with detecting common errors.
SendMode Input  ; Recommended for new scripts due to its superior speed and reliability.
SetWorkingDir %A_ScriptDir%  ; Ensures a consistent starting directory.

^q::
IfWinExist, ASCOMPad V1.2
WinActivate ; use the window found above

If anyone is interested, I'll write up full instructions for installing/running it.

BTW - it is a free, and very handy utility.

I like the sounds of that.  How long have you been using it?
