I also have an iEXOS-100. Per Jerry's past answer, I Inverted mine. Worked great. I use Astroberry (similar to Stellarmate).

Yes.  The pmc8 uses 12v power.  I have a power box I built with the battery, wiring, metering, charging port etc.   especially important to use fuses.  Permanent wiring also prevents reverse voltages etc. it’s well worth the time to build one of these things.

Wes, how do you power your mounts using the "110 amp hour lead acid deep discharge battery"? Directly with the 12v plug?

Ignore the bit about administrator.   That was Luiz that had that problem.  You might want to ignore other bits too. Too many threads.

It’s fine to reflash the firmware.  Probably not corrupted but it’s possible I guess.

Ascom serial is the recommended way to run the thing.  You can flash independent of the communication mode, just connect things and use the configuration manager to load the firmware from the internet and tell it to program the unit.    Once loaded you will want then use the configuration manager to set the communication mode to serial.

You will need to configure the ascom driver to use the serial comms.

Remember that only poth hub connected to the driver.  All other applications are told to connect to the poth hub.

But if you are now working in administrator mode there is nothing wrong with your pmc8.  Windows is just a mess.  I am sure there have been some posts that recommend administrator mode.   I have no idea what mode my laptop is in but it works fine with the mount.  So has my bootcamped Mac mini.

Also I believe you said the iPad connected and worked fine.  This indicates your firmware is not the problem

One final thing.   I had a heck of a time getting my pc to connect to my iexos, even though the iexos connected well to the iPad and to an android device.  But this is not what many report and was some kind of an anomaly.  Presently it seems to connect and operate well in WiFi.

You just have to love windows.

Wes,

Thank you again, I'll try it tomorrow night.  One more question, what if I wanted to just use serial cable for ASCOM?  I know ASCOM driver supports serial but I was unable to get my ASCOM connected over serial either.  I'm also thinking of just reflashing the firmware over the serial link tomorrow to see if somehow firmware got corrupted.

Thank you Wes, but no. Thats not the solution. I always use anycpu driver and corect IP. If IP was my problem, then serial will work.

I make many diferent tests Today. All the day I tryed to control the mount by a long time without loosing the green light and discover what is the problem. No sucess.
On the final of the day, In both computers (Desktop and Macbook via windows in Bootcamp) I used open the APT with "Run as Admnistrator" and I dont Know if it is the solution, but I could use the mount by the rest of the night and worked normaly.  Tomorow I will see if this is the solution, or, if I only had lucky....

Each time you send an ESX! The pc WiFi must be reconnected.   Also you will need to be in udp mode to use explorestars.  Tcp is fine for ascom.   You can switch these modes by the ESY! Command

But in general get your cm connected to both WiFi and serial as you have done.  Then use the connection tab to set things up correctly for the use you want.

Remember the iexos can only talk udp or tcp, one at a time.

Wes,

Thank you, I made a little bit of progress.  Attached serial cable (8 pin USB A to Mini B), installed FTDI driver.  Configuration manager now showed COM3.  After that went to advanced tab, selected serial and sent ESGv!.  Got a response back.  Sent ESX! successfully. Clicked the UDP button and sent EGSv! again it failed.  Tried TCP with the same results.  Went back to serial EGSv! worked.  Went to connection tab and hit find and got message saying "Mount connected to COM3, Note: It does not mean mount is connected via serial"

What next?

Any reason why this would happen when at the beginning of my session I was connected to ASCOM wireless (TCP) just fine?

It sounds like you have the dhcp/static issue we ha r encountered with the exos2 pmc8 connecting you the windows WiFi.  The solution is to go into the network adapter settings on the PC and change the ipv4 connection type to static.   Use the pc up address of 192.168.47.11.   Set the mask to 255.255.255.000.   Set the gateway address to 192.168.47.1

If you poke around in the forum you can find complete instructions I wrote.

Also you might try loading the ascom driver called anycpu from the ES web site.  It is the correct one that pretty much always works in windows machines

Hello.
But I am trying to use the mount via WiFi, and I discovered that the problem that make the wifi connect for some secunds and after, disconnect, is the WINDOWS!!! I am not 100% sure yet, but, I disabled the firewall of the windows and the mount is working!!!! It's working for 1 hour, but, until this, the mount disconnect, after working for 30 mim.
After 1 month of the mount working 100% fine via serial, the mount again, is showing the same problem:

The mount connects (Both via WIFI (TCP) or Serial), works for secunds or minutes and the Green Light turns off and crash the program that I am using (anyone, but I use more APT).

I dont know why, but the mount worked very whell by 1 month. After that time I tryed to turn the Windows firewall on again, for test, and I am not shure if it's the cause, but this the mount stoped to work. I turn the windows firewall off again, but the mount didn't works again. Tryed in another computer and was the same...

The sequence for make the mount work after crashed a program (green light off): I go to Task Manager, finish the "ASCOM.DeviceHub (32 bits)" (my system is 64 bits, but only the 32 bits is used by Ascom, I don't know if is correct). I go to APT (it came to works again after the Ascom device Hub is closed, and is not necessary to close the program after the crash), "Disconnect Scope" and after "Connect Scope". A new Ascom Device Hub connects to the mount and I can use it for more some minutes until the green light turns off again. If I use POTH the problem is the same.

I almost lost the Sun eclipse! I coulnd't use the mount via serial/wifi, but I changed for UTP and with IPAD (Explore Stars) worked fine, without lost connection. But I dont want to use Ipad,  want to use the computer!

Thank you for your help!

Do you have a usb-serial cable?

If so connect it to the pmc8 and the pc

Go to the advanced tab of the configuration manager.  Set the radio button to serial.  See if you can push out an ESGv! Command .  If so send an ESX! Command to put the pmc8 back into WiFi.

I had a similar experience.  It turned out that I had to hardwire using a serial connection to change it back to wireless using the manager.  Hope this helps.

Hi James,
Thank you very much for your operation with CDC. That makes very good sense, and I will try it out.
Thank you again.

If you load CdC full screen and activate the Connect Telescope button at the top of the screen you get the telescope interface window.  If you click anywhere on the star chart the interface window will disappear behind the active CdC window that is full screen.  If you click Connect Telescope again, it will bring it to the front and you have control of the scope on the interface, it looks much like the POTH interface.
Connect Telescope button

Interface Screen

If this is hidden behind the main window and you close CdC, it will close first so you don't see it again.  If I am only using CdC, then I will make is slightly less than full screen and move the interface window to the side so I can control the mount with it instead of the POTH interface.
