When the explorestars is stuck please open a command window in the pc and find out what the up address is.  Use the ipconfig command. It must be 192.168.47.11.  If it comes up 169.xxx.xxx.xxx we can fix you up.

Thanks Wes for replying,

I switched off all networks (from power plugs). I connected to PMC wifi, open explore stars and nothing! To be precise, the Explore stars worked at the first try but  when I moved the cursor it stoped responding. All other tryes ended up with a "Please Wait" screen.
It seems that the night will be cloudless and I am stucked and Dissapointed!

I am using win PC

1.  Make sure the computer is set to not connect to any WiFi network automatically

2.  Check to make sure your WiFi channel is o e that is not jammed up with other strong channels.  Suggest you use the dongle to adjust the WiFi channel to channel 1,6, or 11

If the WiFi drops out the mount will not respond.  Sometimes if this happens you have to reboot the mount and reconnect.

Are you using a PC, android or iPad?

Just wondering if it is available, and if so, where might I be able to

PMC-Eight unit problem #EXOS2

sotirios.gg@...

Hello all,

I am facing a frustrating problem. The unit seems unresponsive. Yesterday after polar alignment, I chose Mars and the mount worked and followed Mars. After a while I wanted to move to another target but everything was unresponsive. The explore stars were running and the wifi was ok, but...nothing! I had to restart the unit and try again. When connected I choose Mars again. At halfway while slewing the mount stopped working. I had to repeat the progress many times but in vain. The Unit sometimes worked for a short  time and some other times after connection to the wifi, the ExpStars app stays at the "Please wait" screen. Today I repeat the process indoors. Same thing. At first the mount moves to the object but then if you want to park it or move to another target, nothing happens. I tried with a different computer. It is all the same. No responce!
Yesterday was just the 4th time using the mount.

The led's in the unit when unresponsive:
Up middle green
Down right red
Down left Green (flashing)

For everyone, did the ASCOM drive work normally? Without crashing? I've tested it on two machines and the problem is the same for me.

Maybe a cable issue?

Note all the serial connections in the device mNager. Then unplug the cable from the pmc8. One of the comm ports will disappear.  That is the port you need

Re: Installed ASCOM 6.5 SP1 Cannot Connect PMC-8

I don't know about the legacy install, but instead of poth, 6.5 uses Device Hub. I haven't used it with the exos2 yet, but I have used it successfully on other mounts and it works great.  Sorry if I missed the point, just happened across your post on my cell phone.

I have been using my G11 w/ ASCOM, serial, for more than 2 years, and today I changed to IASCOM 6.5 SP1 from 6.4.  When installing I changed the option to also install POTH (and the other legacy parts).
Now, I cannot get POTH to connect to the mount.  I get the error

It will also not connect using Device Hub, giving me this error:

Tonight is dark, and I do not want to waste the night.

How can I get this to work?

Thanks!

I have tried all ports:  4, 5, 9, 11

Mark, I have not done a thing with 6.5. At this point I am no help.  I hate to say it but until someone else chimes in I guess you are stuck.

Sorry man.

The lights on the PMC-8 is as follows:
(with lights to the left), top line: Middle: solid Green, Left and Right: dark
bottom line: Left: slow Green flash; Middle: fast Red flash; Right: solid Red

In the past, I would always get an "Error connecting to telescope. ..." when I 1st press "Connecting Scope", but then the LST clock will show, and it would connect upon the 2nd try.

Re: Installed ASCOM 6.5 SP1 Cannot Connect PMC-8

Mark Lamb

Will PMC-8 connect to 6.5's preferred Device Hub?  I have tried but no luck.

Re: Installed ASCOM 6.5 SP1 Cannot Connect PMC-8

I have tried connecting to every port, and I get the same error.

Re: Installed ASCOM 6.5 SP1 Cannot Connect PMC-8

When I go to Setup, and click on PMC-8 setup, it says that "Already connected, just press OK".  It does this on both laptops.

Re: Installed ASCOM 6.5 SP1 Cannot Connect PMC-8

So go to the setup for the driver and make sure the correct comm port is selected and serial etc is all set

All of this work fine just a couple of days ago, and has been working fine (on multiple laptops) for 2+ years.
