Android ExploreStars no longer works on KitKat 4.4.2 #ExploreScientific #ExploreStars #Android

Here is some news about ExploreStars for Android.

Dan Dickerson recently updated the Android version of ExploreStars to correct an issue with port allocations being screwed up by the Apple program Bonjour.
This only impacts you if you are running Apple applications on your Android Device.

Basically the Google Play Store will install the latest version of ExploreStars that has this fix and it won't work on KitKat 4.4.2.
So if you are running that version of Android, you can either upgrade the Android operating system, or try and continue to use the previous version for KitKat 4.4.2.

Be aware that Google is no longer supporting 4.4.2, according to Dan.

Google has told him that the previous version of the ExploreStars app should continue to work.

Here’s the link to the last version of ExploreStars that works with 4.4.2.

You need to sideload this version onto your Android device to install it.
Please Google sideloading APK's to find out how to do this. We do not have instructions for doing this.

This version will not have any updates that have been implemented since March 17, 2019.
